
PRESENT STATUS OF UNIVERSAL ELEMENTORY EDUCATION
District has almost completed the target of UNIVERSAL ELEMENTORY EDUCATION There is no habitation left without primary school within 1 K.M. area and only 208 children have been out of school of the age group of 5-11. Only 8 habitations left without middle school within 3 K.M. and only 1199 children have been out of school of the age group of 11-14..

For the purpose of early childhood care, ICDS is already running 1128 Anganwadis and Zila Shiksha Kendra Gwalior has established 200 Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Centers under NPEGEL and 100 ECCE under SSA. Population and enrollment in Anganwadis and ECCE have been tabulated below -

There are 380 upgraded E.G.S., 1001 government primary school, 78 aided and 1132 recognized private primary schools. Therefore there are total 2591 primary schools in the district.
There are 551 government upper primary school, 38 aided and 1043 recognized private upper primary schools. Therefore there are total 1617 upper primary schools in the district.

As it is clear from the above table the overall GER for primary level is 104.76%. The difference in GER of boys and girls is nearly 0.25% at primary level.
Similarly GER at upper primary level is 104.60%. %. The difference in GER of girls and boys is nearly 1.2%.

In Gwalior district 47783 and 33543 children were enrolled in class 5th and 8th respectively, out of which 41216 and 31704 children were appeared in the exams. As shown from the above table GAMR of primary level is higher than middle level.
